Your fabric has a cleaning code that will guide you on proper care. If you cannot locate the cleaning code on the labeling, please refer to our website or email us at [email protected]
Code “W” is used on fabrics that should be cleaned with water-based cleaning agents. Spot clean using foam from only water-based cleaners, or non-solvent cleaning products. Apply foam with a soft brush in a circular motion, and vacuum when dry.
On fabrics with an “S” code, use a mild water-free cleaning solvent or dry cleaning product. Make sure the room is well ventilated when using.
Code “W-S” fabrics can be cleaned with either water or solvent-based products. Use a mild solvent, an upholstery shampoo, or the foam from a mild detergent.
Clean this fabric by vacuuming or gently brushing only. NEVER use any cleaning agents at all. Any cleaning product whether water or solvent based may cause staining, shrinkage or distortion of the fabric surface pile.
* Regularly clean your fabric by vacuuming or light brushing. * Test cleaning product in an inconspicuous area first to guard against color bleeding or fabric shrinkage. * Call a professional when your upholstery needs overall cleaning.
Depending on the content. Knowing how to care for your upholstered items will help protect your investment and maintain the life of your furniture.
Vacuum your items regularly with a brush attachment if available. · Pilling is a normal occurrence as short or loose fibers on the surface of your furniture tangle together. It is more common to occur in areas that experience more friction (seat and arms). You can obtain an inexpensive fabric shaver (not an everyday razor) at fabric and big box stores to remove them. · Avoid sun damage. Prolonged sun exposure will fade and weaken the fabrics over time, making them brittle and more prone to tearing. · Always remember to lift and move your furniture instead of pushing, pulling, or dragging it, which can damage not only your furniture, but your flooring as well. · Blot spills immediately with a clean, colorfast towel or sponge. See specific cleaning information on the product for specific instructions based on the fabric type. · Avoid the use of dyes, paints, inks, bleach, nail polish, and similar products on and around your upholstered furniture. · Test any product in an inconspicuous place first to check for color fastness. · All products have a specific fabric care code based on their material content. Usually this can be found on the law label or on our website. If you cannot locate the fabric care code, contact your retailer for assistance. Always follow care code instructions when treating your upholstery. · Some aftermarket fabric protection may damage your upholstery. New Classic does not recommend the use of aftermarket fabric protection.
For upholstery fabrics such as polyester, microfibers, chenilles, cottons, etc. , follow the fabric cleaning code: S – Spot clean only with a water-free dry cleaning solvent. Pretest a small, inconspicuous area before proceeding. Do not saturate. DO NOT USE WATER. Pile fabrics may require brushing with a non-metallic, stiff bristle brush to restore appearance. Cushion covers should not be removed and dry cleaned. When cleaning a spill, blot immediately to remove spilled material. Clean spots or stains from the outside to the middle of the affected area to prevent circling. Overall cleaning by a professional furniture cleaning service only is recommended. W – Spot clean only with water-based shampoo or foam upholstery cleaner. Pretest for color loss and fabric compatibility. Do not over wet. What is it: Leather scraps are melted down into a gel, which is then blended with polyurethane (PU). This mixture is then set into the face of the fabric. The fabric is then tumbled with leather hides to create the softness and wrinkled effect of leather.
Use only water based, non solvent cleaners. · Wipe down furniture with a clean, slightly damp cloth. · Dry it with a different clean dry cloth until it is completely dry. · Dust crevices and seams. · Clean spills as soon as they occur by first blotting the food or liquid and then gently wiping it with a damp cloth. · Do not use soap, window cleaner, kitchen cleaner, leather cleaners or any abrasive cleaners as they may damage the finish. · Test any product in an inconspicuous place first to check for color fastness.
What is it: Leather is a natural product produced from animal hides (mostly cows, steer, and water buffalo). Leather will always have natural markings such as brands, insect bites, scars, fat wrinkles, stretch marks, abrasions, and burns. These natural markings are not considered defects but rather are indications of true full top grain leather.
Keep it clean. Vacuum and dust often using a crevice tool in seams. · Though leather is resistant to fading, direct, prolonged exposure to the sun will cause any material to fade. Therefore, it is important to position your leather furniture away from windows, skylights or other intense light sources when possible. · Keep your leather furniture at least 12” away from radiators and other intense heat generators to prevent drying and possible cracking. · If spills do occur, attend to them quickly, blotting the stain rather than rubbing. · Do not leave newspapers on leather furniture. The ink in the newsprint will rub onto the leather. This is true for all upholstery. · Take extra care with sharp instruments and animal claws. Leather is much stronger than upholstery but will puncture with force, causing need for a difficult repair. · Never use harsh cleaners, chemicals or saddle soaps as they may damage the finish. Before using any cleaner, test-clean on a hidden area.
